What if Cort Made a Hybrid of the G290 FAT and the G280DX?

The Cort G290 FAT is a great electric guitar design that checks a lot of the boxes for us. Maple fingerboard? Yup. Unpainted headstock? For sure. Aesthetics that feel both classic and modern? Well done. Vibrato bar? Of course. It’s no surprise that the G290 FAT brought home many accolades.

As impressive as this design is, there are just few adjustments that we wish might be considered when this model is updated. First, as great as the covered humbuckers look, we’d really want to have those strat position 2 and 4 sounds and a single coil in the neck position for those round tones a la Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, or Eric Johnson. Just like the way Cort has the pickups set up in other models in the G Series, like the G280DX for example.

Also, we here at Fret5 are proud members of the reverse headstock appreciation society, so, wouldn’t it feel a lot more rock and roll to flip that bad boy over?

Whew! That’s more like it. Wouldn’t this make a great future model? G285 perhaps? Cort Guitars, for your consideration.
